Rust :-( .... patch or respray
« on: 13 July 2005, 08:48 »
Hi,
I bought a 1988 MK1 recently and noticed some rust patches around the car. Nothing major yet.

In my last posting, it was clear that I should treat/kill the rust asap. A full respray would cost hence I wanted to know whether patching the bits on the car is enough?

Thanks

There's no reason why a good competent body shop cannot just treat the areas that are affected, the only thing you need to be aware of is that if the rust is near to another panel, then the bodyshop may have to blend the paint into the adjacent panel and this will put the price up but it's not going to cost as much as a respray.
