never had one myself but the way i see it is if you have a 1ton car with a 1.6 engine it's gonna be working harder than the same car with a 1.8 in, i had numerous KR 1.8 16v engines in my mk2 and doing a regular trip to m/cr at the same speeds each week i never saw more than 28mpg the whole trip at 70mph, i fitted a 2.0 ABF with the K-Jet fuelling system already on the KR, i did the same trip at the same speed an saw 42mpg, the only components that were different were the head and block, everything else was the same as the 1800cc engines had

i reckon you should see in the regions of 28-32 on the m/way and 24-26 round town, if it's driven sensibly lol

oh that's great, I'm currently averaging 25mpg in a mk4 astra auto, being an auto I'm never going to get high mpgs unless is's a 1.0/1.2. Can always clean fuel system, pump tyres weekly, switch to premium fuel, service it every 4-6 months. Ideally I'll be searching for a 1.8 GL, I've just seen a cracking 1.8 Driver for £795, deals are coming up, just have to check every day. Thanks for all your help dude! Much appreciated.
