Squeaky wipers
« on: 21 September 2012, 11:52 »
I know this can be quite a common problem, but does anyone know of a definitive fix for this? The screen is clean (although not an original VW one), I use AG Fast Glass as a drying aid on it after every wash, and the wiper blades are brand new, but still they squeak when the rubbers change direction at the top and bottom of each swish.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Try clenaing the windscreen with IPA to remove any contaminants. I use a glass cleaner on my side windows and rear screen but just soap and water on the front.

Only fix that worked for me was a new windscreen

I'm serious. I tried every other trick / magic solution going and nothing worked. Replacing the windscreen was actually for an entirely different warranty issue but the pleasant bonus was silent wipers.

Would Guinness have the same effect?
