Glad you got the car.
Personally, I would get rid too once repaired.

That's all well and good, but the should the circumstance force him into paying out for a new car that he otherwise wouldn't have considered?

I know what you're saying.  Personally, I would not want to keep a car that had been stolen let alone damaged aswell.  Chances are it has been thrashed to hell aswell.
I would never feel the same about the car again.

To Simonpolly,

How are you feeling about your car now time has passed?

The car is fine its still in A1 condition and there are no markers on it so it would`nt be a problem to move it on.The break in was the think that caused most of the heartache as i`m sure you  can relate to.

Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Yep, sure can. Although that's got easier since we've been away on holiday after cancelling the two previous ones due to feeling uneasy about leaving the house.

This is all very strange, the type of crook who has the know how to pinch a modern car without the keys does not normally abandon it 1 mile away.very strange :undecided:

Sometimes thieves will leave the car parked elsewhere to see if it is fitted with a tracker.

The issue regarding key reprogramming/cloning via diagnostic port is on Watchdog this evening.

Did you see 5th Gear? You can pay more than that for an Aldi Gay One.
