my car was stolen and recovered, and tbh it can work out well.... depeding, my dads audi 80 was a stolen and recovered,
and my golf was a write off, cat c, it's all been checked and is in full workin order, a lot of people don't mind whether the car is/was written off, although it does reduce the price, you pay a lot less in the beginning.
with the golf, it cost £200, and needed an m.o.t and a vic check to be back on the road, (£70 ish) luckily my brother is a car mechanic and didl the work for me, but it still doesn't cost much. You need to find out whats best for you, generally with older cars you can pic them up for less, as they are written off for very little damage, that is very easily repaired, the insurance company just don't want to do it!
4 weeks ago when a guy drove stright ino the back of my car his insurance company wrote my car off, with the car being a 94 pug106, the damage was very little all it needed was the boot floor flattening down again, and the exhaust securing back in place, the scracthes on the plastic bumper don't even need paiting, and you don't bother with a car like that. so tbh it can be worth doin up a write off, ratehr than a stolen recovered, although the value is always less than book, you can be on a winner
if any of that made any sense?sorry if not
