vag com help

hi, first time using vag com, got a loan of it an a laptop tonight to fin out why emissions control light / engine management light is showing.

when i test for compatibility it says car is not compatible.

this is a mk4 1.8t anni.

not really sure where i am going wrong here, can anyone point me in the right direction

is it a full version or a cheap ebay cable with VDCS lite?? Is it saying its not OBD2 compatible?

its a blue cable that says obd II on the part that connects to the cars interface, and the program is VAG COM release 409-1.
yeah it says not OBD2 compatible

all i can say is you get what you pay for buddy... i just shelled out £263 for a brand new genuine cable, ill earn that back in no time and can also do later vehicles that run canbus...

Only got a loan of this. Only need it to check a one off warning light. If its that kinda cash I'm as we'll going to vw to get it plugged in. The car is running perfect so I'm sure the warning light has came on for something trivial, but don't want to take a chance.

buy a cheap fault reader or i will turn your light off if you want  :smiley:

Hi,
I have just seen this post and was wondering if you could help. I have just noticed my ESP light is constantly illuminated on the speedo. Tried turning it off but it's not budging. Any ideas? Will a vagcom get rid of the light?
