Horn - improve/upgrade
« on: 12 August 2012, 12:17 »
I don't know if all MK4 horns are the same, but the one on my brothers Golf is poor. Sounds like a girly toot. He wants a better sounding horn such as on my MK4 Astra, or better than that even still.

Without going into the world of airhorns & the like, is there a simple upgrade for these, or does it involve a lot of faffing about?

I think the mk4 already has 2 horns. One is a high frequency and the other is low frequency.
Maybe on your brothers car only the high is working hence it sounding pants :undecided:
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

the horn units are behind the passenger side grille and are connected via a plug. As Steve said maybe only one is working; just unplug and test

If you still want to change it no its not a lot of faffing about.

Fit the new horn possibly having to make a new bracket / drill new holes. Then wire it up job done beep beep
