cutting out?

hi guys, iv just put in my new piper cam,

now my car wont idle well it just cuts out, im allmost 100% i got teh timming right as i notched the cogs with a file and made sure they were back to where they should be

i was thinking, either the cam is causing it to did to much in the idle?
or, i did mess up the timming

my mate recons i need to advance the timming for it? which i have no idea how to do

Do you have a vernier pulley on there as well? The cam will need dialing in and then the timing again, this needs to be all tweaked until you have a happy medium.
