sunroof adjustment help needed!
« on: 29 June 2005, 20:16 »
Right my sunroof is in need of some adjustment. Ever since I got my mk2 the sunroof has sat slightly lower on one back corner than the other which can trap water and cause it to leak under very heavy rain. I know the sunroof can be adjusted so that it will sit right but my haynes manual has me baffled.

Step 1: Undo the 5 metal clips securing the trim in place. - eh?

When I undo the sunroof half way apparently there are some metal clips that need removing so i can 'peel' back the interior trim to gain access to the screws I need. My problem is I can't see or find these clips and I have tried removing the trim fabric but I believe it is stuck down with contact adhesive and I do not want to rip it trying to get it off.

Could anybody please point out a little clearer than that master of vagueness mr haynes as to how exactly I remove the trim to get to the adjustment screws???

Cheers

Acko

with the sunroof half open. pull the front end of the sunroof pannel down. now hold onto it and open the rest of your sunroof.
the pannel should now be free. Bit tricky getin it out though. (i just undone all the screws and slid the pannel up and out of the car)

anyway. u got a few bolts if i remember correctly. loosen those bolts and loosen the philipshead screw that adjusts the height (sunroof should raise)

now tighten the bolts. check the gaps.

Something like that^^^

ohh and be careful not to scratch the painted area of the sunroof when u open it

Once you've pulled the trim panel off of the roof (mine doesn't have accessable clips so I just pull it down) you can slide the trim panel all the way back and close the roof, giving access to the adjuster.

So its just a case of pulling the fabric away from the interior trim at the front? or does the panel that the fabric attaches to remove?
