Got various problems to fix on the car but the main one is the dual mass flywheel problem. Currently my car is making a screeching noise when idle and pulling away but other than that I don't notice much. Iv been quoted between £600 and £800 to get a new clutch and flywheel Surprise. Added to the other problems its gonna cost me well over a grand. The cars got 130k on the clock  and If the car wasn't an anni id probably scrap it!

Anyway I figure I might as well get an uprated clutch and flywheel and since im spending so much on the car Ill get a remap and keep it. But I want to spend as little as possible to achieve this and I really don't know the first thing about clutches. Whats the difference between a 5 and 6 paddle clutch and an organic clutch? Whats the difference between a single and dual mass flywheel?

Iv seen the sachs flywheel and clutch kits for £400 but is there no cheaper options? I have a cheap independent mechanic to fit it all so if I can buy the individual parts cheaply I'm all for it.

I came across techniclutch on ebay but they get a bad write up so will avoid them and i have also found these guys http://www.clutch-specialists.co.uk/auto/VOLKSWAGEN-Golf-IV-1-9-TDi-130-150-GTi-Inc-4-Motion-09-00-09-03-fast-road-clutch-kits but not sure if thats just the clutch and not the flywheel.

Basically I am looking for a clutch that will just fit straight on and not operate any differently from the original but will be able to handle the additional power of a remap to about 190bhp.

Whats my cheapest option here?

OEM clutch will handle a remap

Paddle clutch will be sh!t to drive around town and low speeds/rpm

Organic clutch will be slightly harder than an OEM but handle up to 400 lbft

Why is there so many reports of clutch slipping etc after remaps if the oem will handle it?

Also will a remap reduce the life span of the new oem fly wheel?

Depends on how its been driven previously.  A car with 100K is prone to clutch failure as its way past its usefulness.  Though saying that I've mapped plenty of cars with over 100K and they are still going with the same clutch.

Stick a brand new clutch in and it will be fine

Had mine remapped at 72k on the original clutch. Flywheel died at

A remap will reduce the lifespan slightly. But will cost 1/2 as much as a upgraded clutch.

How much is the oem clutch? And is there not an upgraded flywheel that could be used?

OEM clutch and flywheel (Sachs) cost me £325

Only flywheel upgrades are a single mass flywheel which will make the engine noisy and vibrate a lot or a Sachs upgraded dual mass but it costs £££££££'s
