downpipe and custom engine mounts are the biggest physical hurdle to get a 20v in a mk1 .. you know these engines only produce 125bhp ? not really worthwhile swap in my opinion 16v would go in easier and cheaper, and faster.

AS toph said, not a worthwhile mod imo.

But if you really want to do it then best option is to IM G6DUB. Ask gary he has done this to his caddy and a previous mk1. (well took it out)

^^^^^^^, What they said. It will be a big disappointment after the 16v, also the engine management issues you will encounter don't make the 125 look very attractive to me.

the n/a 20v engine is one of the best free flowwing heads wv have ever made, the 125 horse power is rather sh@t, but thats down to the fueling and emissions bollox, and the weight of the mk4 make it a poor overall package, but these engines fitted with twin 40/45's and using the standard manifold (tubular from the factory!!!) connected to a free flow exhaust (minus shatty catty) can be made to push some serious revvy fun, the only thing i would think that needs looking into is the ignition side as they run on an ignition module/ecu and then the operation of the vvt unit, this could how ever be disconnected. ill have a look at a spare 20v head to see if the kind of dizzy you run on a 16v would fit i think they do just need the blanking plate pulling out.

im not raving on about this engine cause i have one, as i said the mk4 in which it was 1st put was a poor package for it to pull about. these engines are cheap as chips to get from breakers etc as they arent in demand like the turbo unit, and in all honesty it would be nice to see somebody having a go at some thing different than following the usual 1.8t this 1.8t that or g60 this g60 that........

Just my bit, some times when all engine conversions are same thing after same thing it does get a little bit boring...........

ill dig out my spare 20v head and look to see if a dizzy would fit on.........
