« on: 22 July 2012, 18:01 »
Hi, newbie here
Gone and got myself a little mk3 project. Hoping all you well knowledge GTIers out there will be able to help me out. It's a mk3 gti 8v in dragon green, the list lol
1:lower the beast. Not sure if to go springs or coilovers at the mo
2:wheels. Iv got a set of 5 spoke OZ racing wheels 17", thinking stretched tyres with a camber on the rear? Good or bad idea?
3:in the prosses of striping and painting parts but drivers door has a f#$k off big dent so looking for a new one!
4:exhaust system, it needs one! If anyone has one for sale that would be great. Looking for decat with a twin if not oval finish.
5:induction kit, looking for one of them to, iv got the hitachi one.

Any help with the few bits would be great, and any helpful hints ;0)

Cheers and thanks foe reading

Ben

Welcome to the mk3 8v family, we are a friendly bunch but it does help to have a thick skin as the 8v is much berated..

1.Personally i would go lowered shocks and spring for a good daily drive although others prefer coilies.
2. The wrong wheels can totally ruin a mk3, others will offer sound advice in this department.
3.Look in the classifieds section, plenty of mk3 spares available cheaply.
4.As above, plenty of good quality second hand stainless cat back or just backboxes around.
5.Don't waste your money, use 'search' to find out how to modify your standard airbox for better results.

You've got the best colour for a mk3 in my opinion so make sure you get some pictures up in the mk3 section so we can all have a looksee

Cheers Gavv8,
I'm going to have a look in a mo just grabbing as much rays before that big yellow thing disappears again never to be seen. Lol
Thanks for the info mate, I was going to try and do a photo project running thing, but with kids and work it's seems to take a back burner.

Welcome along....Dragon Green is by far the best colour now get some coilies on and slam it !!!!!!  As for alloys a nice set of Audi pepperpots would look nice. At the end of the day get it looking how you want not everybody else.
