Seriously creaky
« on: 25 July 2012, 22:37 »
When I'm driving I get a really bad creak from the drivers side suspension. It does it when I go over bumps in the road and when I'm turning a corner. It gets a lot worse when it's warm also. When I'm parked up if I push up and down above the drivers side front suspension the same noise Is made.

Could this be te McPherson strut as this was an advisory on my MOT?

Any help would be great lol.

is the noise there when your driving realy slowly? Wtf is a mcphearson strut? Lol
im getting same creaking noise when am slowly parking up and turning.

Try this: spray some wd40 or double TT into the top bearing (on the front suspension) you will have a metal cap and under that there will be a black rubber thing (bearing) spray onto the top of this rubber, drive around as normal. If the noise goes away then you need new top bearings. Get genuine ones to save you from doing it all again, as copies or aftermarket dont last more than 2 yrs. You can get them from TPS (trade parts specialist) they do genuine VW parts

hope that helps

Mcpherson strut is just the suspension strut :P

Could be a few things, top mounts, wishbone bushes, drop links? any rubber parts of the suspension really

what exactly was the advisory, leaking strut
