Exhaust lamp warning light!!!
« on: 16 July 2012, 20:03 »
I know this subject comes up from time to time,my light came on my 57 plates mk5 gti 32000 miles fvwsh, owned since new and treated like a princess.Iv read a few older threads and turned the fuel cap, no difference.I checked the oil on saturday and the dip stick seemed brittle and some of it fell away from around where it goes into the engine still fits ok but not as snugg. Could this put the light on?Iv just ordrerd a new one just in case. Thanks for any feedback......

You really need a vcds scan to narrow down the issue!

What fuel do you normally use?
Without traction power is nothing!

If the dip stick isn't snug then try the new dipstick first as the seal of the old one could be poor.
A vcds scan would still be advisable from any helpful forum member near to you.

Engine management light can come on for hundreds of reasons. Need to be scanned to find out exactly whats wrong with it.

Put new dipstick in, and the light has now gone out so will hold back from giving vw anymore of my money unless light comes on again, can't believe how sensitive these cars are.
