mk2 water coming in searched everywhere
« on: 02 July 2012, 17:25 »
hey guys searched high and lowfor a hole on my bulk head and iv concluded that its getting into the box section for the dashboaard

i do have a rust hole on the drivers door pillar but i ran some water down the gutter and it wasnt leaking in there and when it does rain its filling the footwells up alot so there has to be a large leak somewhere, i mean theres f**king leaves and sh!t in my bulkhead how the f**k did tat get in there. iv found a hole next to the ecu right before the drain sealed that up ... still leaks sealed the heater fan up .... still leakes i have some small rust spots around the windscreen and 3rd wiper hole sealed them tempory and guess what .... still leakes getting abit impatient now cos i want to put the carpets back in and the drain plugs in the floorpan but at the minute its leaking like a f**king colinder lol (as you can tell i love colourful vocabularies)

any clues guys iv exhausted all my efforts so will try anyting anybody throws my way

Mine did this a couple of times ages ago, seemed to be based on the angle the car was parked at and would leak through the heater blower intake and then through the motor into the footwell. Never did make any real sense of it!

Remove the mesh cover for the fresh air blower in the scuttle.  One screw and pop the retaining clip to the right.  The foam seal along the underside of the mesh cover perishes/shrinks.  Clean it all off and then put a bead of silicone sealant around and refit.

Job done.

Get some food colouring and add it to water, then pour it in suspected area.

You can trace the stain then.
