Hi everyone. I'm having a lot of issues with the dock that's under the armrest. The iPod is only recognised some times and not every time and even when it is, it sounds quite bad, very thin and the controls are awful

I'm having Satnav systems look into it but I was wondering if someone had similar issues. I really don't want to shell out for the full multi device kit but so far this dock has been disappointingly bad.
I even bought an extension cable and adaptor to charge, but the sound it still bad

There's also an annoying hiss in the background.

Any help appreciated

the original VW ipod dock kit that was hard wired in on mk5s (mine was 2007MY) only worked with older ipods and 1st gen iphone, then apple changed the pins in their own dock connector around, and hence if you are using an newish ipod or iphone thats upto 3/4 years old, it wont work right, so will need to get a whole new lead input.

quick update

the good folks at Satnavsystems brought my car in and fixed the problem. turns out that my armrest was probably retrofitted and whoever installed it used a completely wrong wire for the iPod cradle.
now it recognizes the iPod instantly and the quality is pretty good (not as good as using the SD cards though...)

they also upgraded my satnav to include speed cams, and to work with full postcodes in the UK...love it! finally they installed the Bluetooth kit that also seems to work fine (only thing that doesn't work is the music stream via BT, which is a shame as it does show the full title and band if you use BT...)

Radio 4.  Much better than repeated little tunes over and over again.
