My Leon FR had the same issue, when the fronts were worn I put new Goodyears on the back and the Bridgestones that were on the back, on the front and the noise all but disappeared. Now I'm on Goodyears all round and the noise has gone...and now that I've just got some good tyres I'm getting my new Golf in the next few days (if VW stop puting the date back )

Sorry to high jack...but why do vw keep putting the date back Dave?

You have to wonder, what are they doing?
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox

Not sure. Last week I had a call asking if I could go sort names, addresses, and give them my retention document for my private plate. Whilst i was there they asked if I could pay before the end of the month to help with their figures.

After an hour of extra negotiations I agreed to pay the balance the next day (against all advice admittedly, but a friend at home who is a good solicitor has said I'm not legally at risk). Car will be delivered Thurs/Fri (tomorrow)

Today just had a phone call to say there is a backlog of VW's to be trasnported from port of entry, so it's still in Grimsby. Delivery will be next weds.

Few problems now. I've paid, I'm without a vehicle from Sunday as my brother's having my Leon and needs a vehicle, the Golf is booked in to be VentureShielded on Tuesday and the company only do one car a day, and I fly to Russia on wednesday with work. After a stern warning that I'll be having my money back, the dealer said he'll call later.

Now I'm starting to worry. They have my retention document (which they need to put my plate on) and as the plate came off my Leon, in my name, registered to my address; the nominee section (which entitles someone to the plate) stay's blank as the Golf details will be the same. But as far as I know there's not actually anything to stop the dealer from putting their name in the nominee area (I do have a photocopy signed with the blank nominee area but still)

If the dealer are being this sh!tty then this is starting to concern me, I was offered more than 3 times what the car's worth for the plate recently

I'm swinging by on my way home from work. Any customers in there when I get there won't be sealing deals if I don't get good answers!

P.s will name and shame (if allowed on here?) unless sorted satisfactorily.

Name & shame is good on here

Get a courtesy car off them until yours comes through or take your business elsewhere

Shocking that they've asked for the money up front to help their figures.

I assume they're a main dealer? If so they won't stel your plate but are still likely to p1ss you about.

Good luck in getting it sorted.

Won't name until after I've got it, we'll see how the handover goes. They are part of a well known group in the midlands though, not just vw as well. After I get back from Russia now is the new date, 16th July.

I have just got several hundred pounds worth of vouchers, and they're actually for quite good places. I was going to turn them down for cash but then saw where they were for.

At the moment I actually feel worse for Covertech in Birmingham who are going to Venture Shield the front. They only book 1 car in per day and when I spoke to them earlier were cool with it. I expected them to charge a cancellation. 10/10 to them guys though.

Will update on my thread instead of hijacking this one from now! http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=231019.0
