Morning all
Im brand new to the site.
My current car is a black Bini Cooper, with a Milltec exhaust, remapped etc etc. I wont bore you with the details, but looking to upgrade
to a Mk2 Gti in the coming months.
Ive seen a few around that are for sale and within budget so i know what i want - but as im not buying yet i wanted to make sure i knew as much as possible before i buy. I have made the mistake of buying a car before without knowing everything i need to know about that particular make. I regretted it, but never caused me any real problems - just personal preference.
As i said, im looking for a Mk2 Gti 16v with BBS wheels, in either Oak Green or Black.
Ive read the forum thread about buying and the 'matey matey' guide. All fantastic information. I have been on other forums before and they dont have this sort of thing on there, which makes it difficult to find stuff.
Anyway - hello and here are my questions:
1. Im currently getting about 25-30 mpg out of the Mini so was wondering how this compares with what im looking for... it doesnt matter, as its more about the car and the image. Just curious.
2. I would really like a standard and original car, but i know there are alot of people out there that lower / modify their golfs, so wanted to know whats best - standard (suspension) or what to look for?
3. Given a regular service & good upkeep - how reliable is a Gti with say 145k miles?
