MK V GTI 3 Door Sept 05 Reg, What is the cost of Road Tax, Anyone?

Hi All,

Newbie to the forum, and would welcome any comments or things I should be aware of with based on the following:

Just bought a MK5 Golf GTI 3 Dr, in solid red, Std.  When I mean standard it is almost factory fresh with only 4,900 miles on the clock!! Immaculate inside and out and underneath.

I just got murdered for a 2nd car group insurance at over £1000 for the year and mixed bus and personal usuage and with wife on the plan, so was wondering given it was first registered before March 2006, if the road tax is ok'ish as the dealer is yet to arrange this on my behalf?

£245 for 12 months or £134.75 for 6 months. That was back in December 2011 so it might have gone up since then.
