bloody electrics!!
« on: 04 June 2012, 17:38 »
got some crazy electrical problems going on on the golf, after changing the driver side door wiring looms, the electric windows will now only work when they want to, the electric mirrors DON'T work at all and the alarm is going off randomly. when i disconnect the main connection to the loom and reconnect it then the windows will work fine for about 5 mins and will stop again. i've tried cleaning up the earth point and all the terminal connections but no luck  anyone have any ideas what's going on here?? i had no problems with the electrics before i changed the door skin so i don't see how it could be relays  :undecided:

Firstly apologies for hijacking this thread but as a new member, please can anyone tell me how I post a new topic?  I can't seem to find a link anywhere.  Hope you solve this problem? Thank you.

PS I found out how to do it.  Apologies for inconvenience and disruption.

for anyone who may be interested i found the solution of this problem  it was the window motor which contains a module. this communicates with all the other electronics in the canbus system and must match the part numbers. When i put this new module in, it screwed up the communication within the canbus system and caused big problems. I just had to match up the motor module to get it all working  had no idea that all the electronic systems were linked together in this way
