newbie... need help
« on: 07 June 2012, 10:44 »
Hi all

Rite... i havent actually got the car yet but im planning on either getting a 2011 GTI or 2011 Type R.... ok, i know this is a GTI forum and im expecting 'some' biased reply, but please please can i also have some unbiased comment...

Deep down i think my heart is 55% set on the GTI, but i also really like the Type R :( i did a lot of research on the GTI, and had a Mk1 Seat Leon before, so i know what its like... but im a Honda virgin, never really know much about it.... i hear jokes and comment bout their vtec and how it rev to 8500rpm... Obviously, i youtube review both car and watch the Top Gear where JC review the Type R... he wasnt impressed, but them again i dont think most people take when he say seriously, i think their about the same in power and speed....also im not into how i can tune it to 1000BHP (sorry, hope it doesnt offend anyone)

so, GTI vs Type R?

Exterior - Type R

Interior - Type R

Comfort - GTI

Price - GTI (tax, insurance etc)

Speed - ? i believe GTI have more torque, but their both about 200bhp

this is my personal opinion....im not expecting people to agree with me, any advice please

ps...GTI and Type R is the only 2 cars i want..... i know there a lot more hot hatches out there, but i only really like those two.

Thanks

Welcome to the nut house!

My mate had a Type R which he loved but it was really thirsty, if I recall correctly he was spending around the £300 mark just to keep her going...

This was a few yrs ago now and since then he has moved on and now works for a vw dealership and has had a GTI R and now has a GTD as company cars, he absolutely loved the GTI and says its a much more enjoyable ride than his civic....and the fuel bills are much more manageable...

Yes the v-tech engines are nice but it doesn't have a patch on the GTI...

How soon do you think your purchase one?

Let us know what you decide and once you get it get those pics up!

thx guys.....

my heart is set on the GTI, but wouldn't mind the type r.... I test drove it but didn't know how the vtec worked....
is there any fault that's I should look out for the GTI?
my Leon was faultless.... so I'm hoping the GTI will b to.

also is the type r as slow as everyone say?

lol correct me if I'm wrong... but for a n/a 2l engine 200bhp isn't bad right..... as much as I like the GTI.... it's a turbo and still only 200bhp.... 200bhp is enough for me.... which is the reason why I'm not considering the VRX, MPS, Cupra R etc.....

is there any different between normal GTI and the 30th anniversary edition?
