Change of mk4 or keep current?
« on: 18 June 2012, 22:27 »
Right I'm in a dilemma!

I have a good chance of a new job in Kent which means moving but on the other hand means renting a bigger place with a driveway and a garage.

So I'm trying to work out if I should keep my current 2000 reg agu 1.8t gti with almost 130k on the clock and keep it in the garage to keep as a weekend/every now n then car to modify etc or sell it, get a lower mileage mk4 gti 1.8t and modify that?

What do you guys reckon if you was in my shoes?

Reason I ask is I wanna redo everything on my current golf and make it into a nice ride.but just wondering if the engine would be upto it?or maybe with an engine swap/engine rebuild it would be fine?

Any suggestions and advise welcome

130k ... Nothing!

Mines on 120k with 300 bhp through it and it don't miss a heart beat.

Mileage is nothing it's maintence that's the key.

A real 304bhp 286lbft in a mk4 golf!

i'm glad you lot think like me  ,when i bought my car i got told it had been mapped but they didnt have the paperwork, so first thing i'm gonna do is stick it on a dyno and see exactly what shes on.
i've had it over a year now and have a project thread on here which some of you may have looked at and can see that i've done a few minor things to sort out a few niggles and have kept the dub serviced regularly.
but if me and the missus end up moving to kent and i get my garage, lots more things will be done.
gonna stick the gti in the garage and literally re-do everything over time and make a nice dub for weekends/shows etc and buy a cheap to run daily.

so just hoping everything goes to plan now
