I'm pretty certain it was - in the form of dual zone climate control.

Initially, VW also fitted dual zone cc to the GT as well, but by the time I got mine, they'd reduced the spec to climatronic air con.
2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

Yes it was standard on all UK spec GTIs.

Yes.
If you end up with one of the many Motorpoint Ed30's or GTI's they imported then you might get extra strong air-con.
Extra strong for hot countries.

Note that it wasn't standard on EU GTis for for example if someone has imported a GTI from Ireland (right hand drive) then it might not have climate control (will still have A/C though).

Ive seen a few Irish imports for sale over here.
