New MAF, symptoms even worse.....HELP!!!

Evening all,

So, about a week ago revs on my car start bouncing on a regular basis, to the verge where it felt like was going to cut out. Unplug maf, and runs 100% better. My thinking therefore new maf required.

Picked up from VW today, £120 lighter, swap over, car now starts, revs drop and car cuts out. Tried a couple of times and cut out each time. 
Unplug it again runs fine. Thought maf as had car 4 years and never changed. So what else do you peeps think it could be. Just scanned and got 4 codes, 17545,16514,16486,17704.

Is due a service which it's going in for on Monday, but anyone shed any light..

Not uncommon to get a DOA MAF, I had one from VW and only knew it was dead from as you say the symptoms and then on the RR at Carbon Nick said it was goosed!

UPDATE ALERT!!!
Spent 15mins today, took airbox, maf to bits again, re-connected, cleared fault codes and although early days all appears to be sorted!!!

Going to treat her to a Pipercross panel now, if she breezes mot tomorrow. Then after four years she's going up for sale..

Yeah they were a PITA, they said that you need to give themyour car for an hour or so while they test it, I said its been tested on a dyno and its doin nowt!
I took it off the car and got one from GSF (was in the middle of getting my car mapped  )
Went into VW and kicked off a bit and they said they will send it as it is to Germany for testin and if found faulty give a full refund if not I had to pay the postage it cost to ship to germany

When was the lambda sensor changed?
Also when was the throttle body last cleaned?
Has it been running rich, and slow to adapt the fuel on overrun?

Disconnecting the MAF, generating the fault codes then resetting (clearing codes), resets the fuel trims.
If it's the lambda the problems will return when the ECU starts adapting again.

The odds of getting a duff Bosch MAF are slim, but when the trim values are reset it can make you think that the MAF was at fault when it wasn't.
