Ko4 upgrade help
« on: 25 May 2012, 15:07 »
Hi all,

Basically my turbo has blown up and looking to replace, so decided it would be a good time to upgrade to a ko4,
A member on here showed me a ko4 conversion kit on eBay ATM, and I was wondering if people could tell me if it looks ok??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221011157668?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D221011157668%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_5822wt_1026
That is the conversion kit.

Plus a FMIC, do you think that will be okay???

Plus a turbo back exhaust system,

Then I'll go down to rtech to get it mapped!

Do you think all of these together will work??
Is there anything else I might need???

Many thanks in advance!!!!

Two thing straight away: the joiners on the front mount kit are terrible and with a ko4 you will blow holes in them, take it from somebody that has done it so u will need braided couplets. The pipe work may not fit either as the turbo is in a different place.

With regards to the exhaust kit that decat won't fit as its single cat where the ko4 dowpipe splits in two. Can't see anything else ATM but on phone so can't really zoom in
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

The exhaust is fine just the decat wont fit. I have a 2->1 scorpion decat pipe for my set up have a look at those. You will also need a reducer as the diameter goes from 2.75 inch to 2.5

Me and Toby both run the xspower fmic's (big) but only £100 but u do need to buy piping too. Works out about £250. Hope that helps. Have a look at my thread I got pics up of exhaust set up and Fmic from when I went to ko4, hope that helps

Also from what I have seen on here a KO4 would require the FMIC tubing to be 2.5'' and nothing less.
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

I think standard pipework is 2.25" so going to a FMIC with 2" pipework would probably do more harm than good.
