stalling golf
« on: 03 June 2005, 20:07 »
my mk2 digi gti is totally broke please help!
this is whats happening:
i would be driving along fine then suddenly it would judder and when i pressed the pedal to make it rev thinking it was going to stall the rev dial flickers and would stick at 3k or something daft like that but not rev at the engine?- as if the pedal wasnt being pressed then it would stall and it would take a bit to start again? the revs dial doesnt bounce and go below 1000 so to make it stall that way, the elecs work etc and it would attempt to turn over but it would take a bit to kick in? basically ive had my car at the garage and they cant find any imediate fault i.e mechanical problem so they have sent it to a auto electrician-but im losing faith cos they are taking forever to fix it, ive done a search on this website and ive found various threads saying it could be a leak etc, but it idles fine when it does work and it will drive for a moment then dye again?

any thoughts?

not sure what kinda problem you got but i had mine sticking at 200 revs and it was the throttle body doesnt sound like its the same thing but might be worth making sure its ok as for the bad starting mines like that if i stall it, it takes a while to start turns over a fair bit like its doesnt wanna know then comes to life im guessing that its flooded and its burning off the excess or dumping it before it starts. just a thought but the mfa might be at fault but im sure if that died completly the car either wouldnt start at all or go to full revs before dieing like you got your foot full on the throttle, only sugestions though im afraid.
