Hi guys,
Ive been lurking on the forums for a while, but think its time i get more involved after a successful DIY brake change!
I'm Dan, 21, from Oxford. Unfortunately, I don't have a GTI - my insurance wouldn't let me have anything "with a turbo or four wheel drive". That ruled out the GTI and any diesel, and only Admiral insured me on this one!
I was originally looking at a Mk4, but ended up in a Mk5 2.0 GT FSI, mainly because it looks so much nicer (in my opinion, the Mk5 is the best looking Golf!) and has the toys like the auto lights and wipers, climate control etc. She had some teething problems - in the first 6 months had a new fuel pump control unit, electronic lighting control module, and ignition coil (which was later cover don a recall). Three months later it was an EGR valve and a coolant sensor. Other than that, the usual consumables: battery, rear discs and pads, then a bearing.
I moved up from a 1.0 Polo, so it was a massive shock. I absolutely love her, and have done for the past 18 months!
So.... Hi!
