Mileage correction, yes or no?
« on: 20 March 2012, 08:13 »
The mk2 I've just brought has had the clocks changed to VDO ones as the old motometers had failed, the new ones were showing 24000 miles more than the old ones (mileages recorded at change)
This was done just before the mot in January so the mot has the higher mileage on.
Now, should I adjust the clocks to what the mileage should be or just leave it as it will look odd if I sell it with a lower mileage than the mot?

Personally, I'd leave it. Having it's clocks changed are all part of its history. Besides, recorded mileage means nothing on a 22 year old car.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Leave as is, going to look odd if you change it now.

Mines the same. Just point it out by showing prospective buyers if you sell up the MOT cerificates. Mine jumped 30k between MOTs, cant see that happening on a 21 year old car!
