mk2 1990 8v digi not running from cold!
« on: 14 March 2012, 14:11 »
Hi
my car has started this problem!! when I go to start it in the morning it starts but then stalls and no matter what you do to keep it running it still stalls!! the fuel pump makes the right noise when the ingnition is turned on and then goes out as I think it should.
its had recently new plugs and dizy cap.
If you leave it for a while and then try it again it starts and ticks over fine, and runs well on the road!
I,ve been late for my work all this week so need to get this sorted any ideas?
thanks

ps ISV has also been cleaned and buzzing away, and a new blue temp sensor has also been installed.
and it makes tapet rattle now when cold after changing the oil a couple of weeks ago (10-40w oil)

Hall sender
Its seems they reach a point when people start changing a dizzy cap then this seems to happen changed Dizzy= possible FCK hall sender?  :undecided:

If it runs perfect when warm I would look to change as many temp sensors as you can first but worst case ECU?

It's on the distributor. The three wires at the front of the distributor connect to it.

As far as I know it's not available on it's own.  It seems as if you have to have a new distributor.

well, I had to a couple of years ago!

you can get it on its own from vw heritage think its 50 notes!
my car has been starting ok since i posted this thread! typical but I know it will do it again when I'm in a hurry to go somewhere.
I have purchaced a set of HT leads so will give that a try first before I splash out on a Hall sender!
