Quattro question
« on: 08 March 2012, 14:02 »
Have been looking at TT's (no, not titties) recently and heard that the quattros are 95% FWD....and apparently understeer like a b!tch.  Is the power distribution/handling in the S3's exactly the same?

Yes, they're both Haldex, which means the drive going to the rear is varied, depending upon numerous sensor inputs.

I think 95% is a rather high estimate.

You can get after-market Haldex controllers and I seem to recall it's possible to muck about with the settings within the Haldex controller, but really you should be able to modify the handling with chassis set up to dial out any unwanted understeer.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

they are programed to drive like FWD but with a bit more grip, there is no set power split  system isn't actualy capable of routeing torue to one end or the other ether.

they drive 100% to the frount diff 100% of the time.   when slip occours on the frount wheels the coupleing locks and transmits power to the back wheels  in theory the transfer can be upto to 100%
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Loads of info/waffle on tt-forum.co.uk to help/confuse you :)

700 quid for an upgraded Haldex controller.

I think the 'understeer like a b!tch' is a bit over the top. It's just not an exciting car to drive!  :lipsrsealed:
