crossflow 8V's will turbo easy     loads of room round it none of the parts are all that spectial or complex so you'd be abel to do all the pipework without much bother.

as said if you want to know about boosting motors read vortex tho a few differances worth noteing between here and there,  the ABA is 9:1 compression 8valves here are generaly 10:1    but the petrol here is quite  alot better.

superchargers are brutal when it comes to torque,  get a nice big eaton and halt the time your actualy holding it back trying to stop things twisting themselves to death.  much more responsive than turbos,   turbos tend to make bigger bhp numbers for less money  it allways used to be the case that big turbo were crap when it came to drivablity but the modern ones are amazing compared to there predicessors.  main problem is when bolting a big SC to the frount of a vw 8,16 or 20v   is the frount pully  as they can absorb a LOT of power eaton M112 needs something like 90 HP  whene it spinning its fastest and blowing its hardest   vw frount pully wont do that
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Thanks bud, also has anyone tried nitrous on an 8v and what kind of results did they get?.

insurance loads your policy 1% per happy gas fueled pony.    ( ouch )
it's good to add a kick to a car but it won't turn a slow car into a fast car just one thats occasionly fast, it' optimal for drag raceing but not spireted driveing better off with tuenign thats helping all the time for that.

no2 is bloody expensive to refill  when your buying refills per LB    it get a lot cheeper if you get an air products or boc account and get a 50ltr bottel to do your own refillls with.

then you'll put the biggest jets in you can and use it all the time and it will go bang
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I'm beginning to lean more towards a good reliable turbo conversion, i love the idea of the s/c but the costs are frightening and the question about nitrous was more to see if anyone has gone down that road but it seems like more of a sledgehammer to crack a nut type of route.
I think i'm going to have a good read of all the vortex threads then start getting an idea of prices and see what i can use second hand and what needs to be new.

For the work, hassle and expense of a turbo conversion you may as well drop a 1.8t in.

superchargers just don't do it for me

after seeing a few SC powered VR6 cars, my brothers Mini cooper S (mapped) i can only say IMO the Turbo is KING

Iv seen G60 powered Golfs etc with so called 260 bhp that just look as slow as a 8v

Turbo all the way, i agree with wayne TBH about just dropping int he 1.8T,  but it would be nice to see some 8v Turbo conversions on these shores

just something different aint it
