OSX 10.8 out ...
« on: 16 February 2012, 22:46 »
later this year  Already.

Yearly refresh cycle seems to be getting quicker and quicker :lipsrsealed:

It hasn't even been that long since Lion came out and they're releasing the next version within a year  and people complain about MS's 3 yearly upgrade cycle

*sigh* feeling a bit robbed. I don't really like the idea of having to pay another 20 quid already! Having to PAY for my upgrade every 3 years is OK I guess. Not overly impressed with the features they're bringing in either. Things that I think should have been brought in with Lion!

No idea why they still haven't got Notes synchonised across devices!

If paying £20 once a year for an upgrade makes you feel robbed maybe time you switched to a PC. You must have spent over a £1000 buying your computer whats another £20

I think the point is that it's more of a feature pack / service pack than a whole new OS. Other OS's often have new features included as extra downloads or part of service packs and don't charge clients for every little upgrade  Yeah sure, it's only £20, but for a minor set of upgrades they could/should give away for free more for the convenience for their loyal users of their iDevices/Mac's.

These are great features I'd go and buy an upgrade for

Turn app indicator lights off
New desktop pictures
Custom desktop colour
Profiles
Full-screen Chess
Full-screen Safari
Downloads list
...

That's just a few that I've noticed skimming that page... most are barely noticeable in that list, sure there are some good ones. Like being able to "Turn FaceTime off" and a whole section on it's new UNIX Features... which are actually just terminal window enhancements, nothing UNIX about it.

150+ pointless marketing hype talking points
