what are these?

trying to find out what these are


what do the two green things (when there clean) on the pipe do they look and feel broken and when i covered the one on the right the car cut out


second thing is what is this on my block, something to do with oil temp? its leaking pretty bad will it be easy to replace, doesnt look to serious just a nut

The two green things are vacuum bungs,I can't tell you why they are there but I can tell you that the reason the car cuts out when you remove them is because air will be escaping from them thus breaking the vacuum.
sencondly I believe that is a oil sensor and I'd say it's either loose or you need a new one.

I screwed a little screw into each of them,this was done about 12 months ago and has never been a issue.

2nd is an oil pressure sensor, common failure on 8v check the colour before you order a new one or take it in with you to the parts desk, fitting the wrong colour will put a light on the dash

not sure why the green things are there but they shouldn't have holes in them, lucky there is a one way valve there though as it looks like the brake booster pipe for your vacuum assisted brakes! If that fails there's nothing stopping it from loosing the vacuum in the master cylinder (brakes will be like they are with ignition off)
Other than that it shouldn't affect the running of the car too much its just a vacuum source but would be a good idea to bung them up or get new caps :)

I used the bottoms of 2 felt tip pens,they fit perfectly!  :wink: :smug:
