Breathers..
« on: 17 February 2012, 09:46 »

So just thinking whilst uber busy at work..

Can the breather be removed, relocated etch on a 8v? I realise there there for a reason, but there is a breather going from the inlet mani through the ISV to the inlet pipe... Anything to do with that one..

Then the rocker cover breather, could you fit a g60 breather with only one outlet that goes back into crank case? Or would that cause issues?

I have seen pictures of a filter on the ISV and the outlet from the rocker breather to inlet..

That or fitting a catch tank. I only wonder as I am cleaning my engine bay and all that breathing lot looks ugly..

Thanks all

The ISV is not a breather line as such, its to take in filtered air from the ISV to use.   You can rip out the crank vent system and fit a catch can?   Not really needed on the 8v lump, infact you can just take the whole lot out and run it open vented with little filters, but it will stink in the cabin.

.... Why do you want to change the vent system just out of interest?

Ahh I see..

 don't want it smelling tho so may well have to leave it as it is then.  :undecided:

Just had a couple of ideas about the intake set up.. box, afm, intake pipe..

If the passenger side of the bay is empty and have the standard set up drivers side, it might look wonky
Short intake pipe and small cone filter looks best but performs worst...

Yea i see what you mean, im sure there must be away arround it without disturbing the crank vent system too much, i did play with mine a while back but it was AGG engine and didnt have the ISV, so made life a bit easier,  i left it open vented, but didnt smell good in the cabin.
