Here an update on how my new GTD is getting on. The build was finished two weeks ago. For the last two weeks it has been waiting to be shipped. The last news (today) is it is 'at the port of exit and released to go on ship' according to the dealer. It seems to be stuck along with many others at the port of exit.
I am also frustrated there is not an 'online' tracking option or a 'factory collection' option like Porsche do. You can watch your car being built in the factory and then drive it home!
Steve and a few others from the forum have suggested I get onto VW customer services and complain about the long wait at the port. I am going to do this on Monday. However, I've not waited as long as some others e.g. I only ordered the car at Christmas....
I have decided to 'retro fit' Cruise control before delivery. £188 for the retrofit is a lot cheaper than the factory option and comes with a three year warrantee!
.. However, this should really be standard on a car of this price (e.g. its standard on the Golf Match).
