New Ignition system now its juddering at low revs
« on: 14 February 2012, 12:09 »
Hi all,

Ive let the golf slowly accumulate a few things wrong with it before i've had it all fixed in one go, ive had new battery, dizzy cap, rotor arm, plugs and leads, new gearbox fitted next week and power steering belt is slack so its all getting done at once.

I had all new ignition because the engine is flat upto about 3000revs then over 3k it seemed like all 4 cylinders kicked in andoff it went as normal, this has now solved that issue, the only problem is now i was driving to work this morning and sitting at 30 and the car is juddering constantly until i put my foot down or take my foot off like theres some blockage somewhere, hot and cold.

Any ideas cus i thought after spending a few hundred quid on it it would be driving mint and if anything its worse? It is cammed so lumpy at low revs anyway but never like this?

I serviced mine not long after getting it & had what you describe, mine turned out to be a dodgy gsf dizzy cap, i put the old one (which actually wasnt in need of changing, just peace of mind change) an it has been fine ever since for the last 40K.......

could be the MAF.  Try running it with unplugged briefly.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

From what you say, you have replaced everything accept the usual culprit... the coil pack!   If its not been done, swap it for another,  you can infact just plug in a spare one and let it dangle just to test takes 30 secconds, saves unbolting the old one.
When mine failed, it did exactly as you describe, however later that week it decided to totally fail (glovebox item now)  they get damp in em.

Otherwise...  got good fuel pressure ?
10 golfs and counting!

That's the first thing the mechanic said coil pack. So I'll try that next week. Cheers for that!
