why always our mk3's?!

Was walking into work this morning (should point out that I was walking as been getting so fed up with my golf being a pain to drive with cutting out), had just walked past a zebra crossing and heard an all too familiar sound... car slowing down to let a pedestrian cross, revs cut, car stalls, followed by car starting up again shortly after...

thought to myself "i'd laugh if that was a mk3", turned round and sure enough, a dragon green mk3 with a less than happy driver!

Cue a wry smile to myself and thoughts along the line of "feel your pain brother"

The mk3 has been doing that since the 90's

i have only ever had this once out of my mk3s and i just changed the coil. i have never felt your pain but bet its anoying

I did this, but it was me stalling when the car was cold up a hill the first 10 minutes of having it

check your number 30 relay. mine has never done it since!

clean the throttle body.... Mine had a really bad idle and cutting out and misfire issue...

sprayin carb cleaner into the throttle body has solved it and idles perfect no cutting out either...

BUT....

the Throttle body has to be cleaned properly to solve it for the long term - strip down and clean with carb cleaner n tooth brush. I'm doing mine at the weekend.

Do you have to get the throttle bodies re set to basic settings if u remove them? if this is the case, this should solve the problem on its own. i cant remember if u need to do this or not. im used to working on modern skodas and i know you have to do this on them.

Mines done it a few time but not in the wet

I've only seen the issue on 16v not the 8v myself

ive had this problem with my 2.0 8v, i tryed all usual routes with cleaning tb, relay, breather pipes ect to no noticeable change. today i took the stupid cone filter/ chav induction kit off and replaced it with a bog standard air box and filter and it has cured my poor idle / stalling when slowing issues. for the sake of £15 i wish i had done this first.
