PLEASE HELP: Slow loss of electrical power
« on: 31 January 2012, 10:26 »
Right, I purchased my latest 1.8 20v MK4 Golf GTi (5 door) on Saturday (as a family car for my partner who is 26wks pregnant and 2 yr old boy) and have started to notice one or two anomolies with the car. It all first started with the central locking failing to work on Sunday (key into the dorr still works), yesterday the car struggled to start on more than one occasion and this morning the electric windows are not functioning. I initially thought it could be a battery issue and took it to Halfords last night and got it tested, the reading was 69%, I then took it too our family mechanic and he stated it could be a number of issues......does anybody have any idea as to what sort of problem I could be encountering/has anybody encountered this issue before??

Would really appreciate any advice guidance you experts can offer.

Regards
Tom

No - could be the alternator do you have 14v+ at the battery when it running? The cold weather will make any battery less efficient and show up a weak cell.
