Buggered laptop
« on: 27 January 2012, 18:08 »
My laptop froze this morning, it wouldn't even power off so I took out the battery then put it back in and tried to restart it.
It powers up, the power and charging lights come on but the screen does absolutely nothing and stays black.
Ive let it cool down, as well as trying to start it up without the battery, just off mains but it's still the same.
Everytime I try it, I turn it on and I hear it starts to run, then it clicks itself off.
When I start it the next time the power light stays on.

Any ideas?
I don't fancy losing my music collection or all the work I've done for my dissertation so far!

Sorry to hear mate!
Sounds like possible overheating have you stripped it and cleaned out any dust from the fans?
The first thing I would do is remove the hardrive and boot it up on another comp with a docking station to recover data.#Then take on the laptop?

Completely stripped it, there was so much dust in the fan!
Then put it all back together, checking all the wiring and now it's working fine!

Crisis averted :afro:
