what would you do ?
« on: 29 January 2012, 15:57 »
Heres one for you all to advise on. . . . . . . I might even use the best one

Had my CV handed in for a job, it quickly got passed up the chain until i was put in for a BETTER job than I was applying for.

So I am now short listed for 2 positions - same job, same level, different locations.

But, and here is my issue ( remember I have only had 3 interviews in the last 23 years )

When they get to the question - why do you think you are best suited for the job ? how can I turn it back to them that it was 2 out of the 3 of them on the interview panel who actually put me forward for the job  Iwas applying for a lower level vacancy

Discuss . . . . . .

Couldnt you just say

'Its brilliant that your company sees the potential in a candidate, I applied for the lower end job as I didn't quite fit the criteria specified in this job but knew I have the skills and abilities to do it. (Then from this point explain how you suit this job)

The entire world is a Money Pit, you just have to pick yours.

look at the job/person criteria in the job spec.

Then  use examples of your experience to show how you match or even surpass the expected person spec.

i.e

Also explain how you can add value to the role / company.
