N249 Bypass
« on: 27 January 2012, 21:49 »
hey, had an issue regarding the N249 Valve, when i had it scanned on Vagcom, it was reading faulty, open circuit? then in the next few days my Forge 008p arrived so fitted it, and was going to Bypass the N249 at the same time suggested by Wazzzer, turns out the N249 Valve wasn't connected properly, so now its connected and was scanned again, no fault. is it still worth bypassing the N249? it feels like its restricting or loss of boost if that makes sence?

n249 allows the DV to feed from the inlet manifold which is how the AGU's work, or it overides it by feeding off the TIP which is always under vacuum. When the DV is under vacuum, the piston gets sucked up and opens up the DV to reduce pressure. The AUM uses this as a form of traction control along with a variety of other measures that create the traction control system.

Its down to you, if its working I wouldn't worry about it, otherwise in vagcom you will get a fault code and something along with the word "malfunction" which is the n249 full f@cked. If you want to simplify the engine setup then go for it, but its really down to you and whether you want to bother. An idea maybe to get wazzer try out his AGU with the k03s and remap, then drive the AUM with k03s and n249 and see how you feel as the bypass can be done really quickly and easily with a t-piece.

Also remember the AGU is cable throttle, unless you have the "linear DBW" which mimics cable throttle control via the peddle it will feel drastically different, then I am not sure how a linear DBW map would act, it may just ignor the n249 full stop. As I'm not a tuner I wouldn't be able to comment. Really a better way would be quick bypass, drive, remove quick bypass and make a decision as to keep the n249 or not as the setups are very different between the AGU and AUM, even though its one family and one engine size.

ok cool, thanks for the advice, Mine is AUQ and DBW, will give it a try, as i said since i put the new DV on and plugged the n249 in properly, it all seems different, like its lost power,
