1.8 gti tubo clutch
« on: 07 January 2012, 11:41 »
Hi guys

Just a quick one i have a 1.8t gti mk4, the clutch is starting to slip. I have just phoned MR CLUTCH and they said it will be 249.99 fully fitted. But they said it may need a mass fly wheel which is 349.99 on top.

The clutch is only slipping a little it is not nosie in any way the car has done 130k what are the chances on needing the fly wheel changed as well ? is this a common thing ?

Any help guys

Thanks

just had this, Done the g60/mk3 16v flywheel job, with the vr6 clutch mated up to it.
clutch is real light, occasional judder on low idle or low revs when pulling off up hill, so minor tho. Clutch is very very nice to drive with.

i spoke to mr clutch, and orriginally was going to get them to do it, told them to order a vr6 clutch and il give them the flywheel and new bolts and a extra score to bolt up the flywheel.

Worth speaking to them, and worth doing the conversion.
Second hand flywheel for about £30.

just as a heads up, mine was slipping a little in 4th and 5th, and was almost dead after three days.
