Do mean the rubber highlighted below?

If so then don't fret about water passing through it, this rubber is not designed to prevent water going in the door, this applies to practically any car.

If water is getting in the car from the doors then you need to check the drain holes at the bottom of them as these being blocked is common. With the doors open you'll notice a couple of rectangular holes facing the ground. theses must be clear.

Also, with the door card removed, check the plastic membrane behind it, this must be in good order and sealed around the edges.

If it isn't, replace it.

Keep an eye on ebay or your local scrappy, the rubbers do turn up, more so for cabbys than tin tops.  also try Crazyquiffs.

Rubber scraper seals where available from CrazyQuiffs in the recent past, not sure about know though, but also have a feeling that (BBT) VW Heritage now do then.... prepare to be slapped!

Just a thought,

make sure the scuttle drain holes are clear and that you have a scuttle tray in place or water will get in that way through the water hear blower apperature.

My tray was missing and the drain holes blocked so my foot well was soaking wet. Had to aqua vac it all out etc.
Got atray seconnd and and the drain liner I took out and found a spade connector, piece of galss, a screw and lots of crap.

Once cleared no probs.

Also check the windscreen corners are not leaking common problem on a lot of Golfs.

Finally make sure your roof ain't leaking from the latching handles is the usual area, plus the rear window corners.
