215/40/18 bbs ch reps 9j all round
« on: 20 December 2011, 12:51 »
hi all, just getting my self some bbs ch reps in 18x9j all round, yes i know you can get fronts on 8j and rear in 9j but i like the deep bowl on the 9j for a more aggressive stance

i have been doing alot of research on this and cant really find the info im looking for i know some one on mkiv was running the same but with 35 profile tyre

http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/334094.aspx?PageIndex=1

problem is i switched to 35 profile tyre on my 8j and within a week took the sump out so i rasied the front a little and 60 miles later took the sump out again (big thumbs up to topher and dub unit crew for plugging sump up enough for me to get home)

i have just ordered a shallow sump and dont want it to happen again so wanna go back up to 40 profile i cant understand it as im not that low unlucky i guess!!

so a few questions i know a 215/40/18 can but put on a 9j was gonna space rears out by 20mm but not sure how to set up the front

wheel spec wil be

18x9j et35 215/40/18

what spacer can i run on front to clear the coilover (5mm??) as want a little poke but not to much

and do i need to remove the helper spring on the coilover so that the wheel/tyre does not scrub on the adjuster ring

any help guys as im new to this stretching thing i got it wrong once and took out 2 sumps :-(

I think you have answered you own question, 5mm on the front should sort it all ok.

it might but dont know if the stretch will clear the coilover i was asking anyone who has run a 9j wheel on the front with a et35 and stretched 215/40/18

if u read the post (link i put up he was running a 7mm spacer but he got 35 profile on not a 40 dont wanna waste money on tyres

some one did ask him why he isnt running a 40 profile for rolling radius purposes but he never says

225/40/18 is the correct size to keep the gearing spot on, 215/40's will affect both to a small degree.

yes i know all that but cant 225/40/18 on the front without rubbing thats y u run stretch

but y is he running 215/35/18 is there a reason does it rub with a 40 profile? is for clearance issues as the drop on his car aint that big still has rear adjusters in on the first page
