Alloy wheel bolts.
« on: 13 December 2011, 13:27 »
Now then,im just about to get some non oe wheels for her mk4 1.6 16v.
Just wondering if i need to buy some new wheel bolts as they could be a different taper?
She currently has standard vag 15" factory alloys on.

Can i use these or do i need some new ones or is it wheel dependant?

Cheers lads.

sure someone on here will know for sure but when i had my 1.4 i bought some rs8 alloys and my wheel bolts were too short and the wheels rubbed on calipers so needed spacers  and had to order some longer bolts one from a parts shop, the wheels came of a gti which they fit fine without the spacers    so i dont think there all the same

All / most aftermarket alloys are different taper bolts to standard so yes you will need different bolts.

No OE is radius and aftermarket is Tapered. Jap stuff is usually tuner bolts

Id fire off an email to the seller before you buy to find out what bolts are required. Mine are aftermarket but use radius bolts

Well he's moved in round the corner from me and he has lost the key to his lockers so I've got to buzz them off for him so when I do I think I will just steal his bolts and buy a new mcguard set of lockers.
I will make sure they are tapered bolts 1st though lol
