Think the oil cooler has finally gone on my 8v gti. It has been weeping oil around it for ages now but today i checked the cap and dipstick due to water loss and it does not look pretty.
The oiltemp is the same as allways which is 90 on the mfa but it does not idle properly anymore and sometimes does not start as if headgasket has gone. The water temp is fine aswell staying halfway.
Its an oil burning monster so was thinking if the cooler had gone and mixed water in the oil then i would get the headgasket symptoms like not wanting to start and rough idle or am i just trying to convince myself its not headgasket?
Headgasket was changed a year ago.
Have searched this but still not too sure because its not overheating. Hope its oil cooler because i dont want to put much more money or time into this engine.
