Wasn't there a Grand Designs episode about 3 years ago when a guy used a paint based on the same principal ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of this is friction-less surfaces, it's simply a water-repellant.

It is also resistant to oils and other 'sticky' things, you wouldn't be able to pour syrup all over your tent but tents are water repellant.
