Coincidence it was right next to Taunton RFC fireworks night? Distraction could have been a factor here.

They were saying on the news earlier it is something they are looking at.

Very sad times for all those that have lost loved ones

Just passed through, took almost 5 hours from Plymouth to Bristol, roads were eerily quiet both sides but jam packed a mile or so each side and on the back road between Taunton and bridgewater. Also the carnival that was planned has been called off, and they were all pulling out with escorts. If it was visible from the carriageway, it could have caused distractions too. Mother in law was travelling southbound last night after meeting her nephew just back from afghan with 1 rifles, and said they could barely see the front of the car, the fog was so bad too. As said the accident happened literally as the slip road merged onto the carriageway too.

I must've missed being involved in this by about 10 mins - I was travelling southbound and think the fireworks at the RFC were just finishing.  The fog had been present all the way down from at least Bridgwater North, but probably only started for those coming North at J25...  The fireworks in combination with the fog was pretty distracting, as the whole sky at the time was lighting up, and the smokey tendrils of the last (huge) firework were drifting over and down onto the carriageway as I went past.

Just horrible.  At least they haven't found the bodies they were expecting to find overnight, but seven is seven too many :(
