i think iirc the imac is better with the newest, but im sure i read the macbook pro is more suited to it's pre-decessor...

don't quote me, my imac is runing 10.3something
and my macbook 10.6.4

so i'm not one to talk!

(i have managed ios5 on the iphone though after 3 attempts!)

depends if you rely on old programmes that are coded for PowerPC (PPC). If so then these programmes will not work in Lion. Examples are older versions of Mac Office, older versions of Photoshop, that kind of thing.

To check what you currently use and whether they are PPC in origin, go to:

Apple (top left hand corner)
ABOUT THIS MAC
MORE INFO
SOFTWARE (on the left hand side)
APPLICATIONS

Expand the window and look for the KIND column. Click on the KIND tab to sort the list and scroll down until you see PowerPC.

If you use any programmes that are PPC the you will need to see if there is an upgrade that it Lion compatible. Otherwise it won't work in Lion.

I upgraded from Snow Leopard last week (or two) and love it. I have just starting reusing Safari due to it's gesture control etc, and it's awesome. I love flicking backwards and forwards between pages I've just read, the animation is simple but elegant.

Full screen apps for the win!

Yeah not sure gestures will work with my Mac Pro. I have one of those god awful magic track pads but don't feel it's accurate enough for me to use on a daily basis. What a waste of money that was. I'll stick with my magic mouse, which is marginally better but still not an ideal shape ergonomically.

Look at the Microsoft Arc mice.
