eBay chips for mk3 golf gti 8v?

Hi there, I been seeing these chips on eBay for golf gti 8v mk3 for £40-60 with power gains of 8-13bhp are these for real and any good?

they give more power by over riding the ecu settings...(basically confusing the ecu so it changes fuel to air mix) and you may get a few bhp, how they effect emissions or engine health is any one's guess

Ebay chips are best avoided.

As for 8 to 13bhp not a chance.
